Provide a high quality and effective legal support to WWF-SA and its associated Trusts and support to the Legal and Risk Manager.
•The Legal Officer will join the legal team in providing effective and efficient in house legal support to WWF South Africa and the Associated Trusts. Legal experience in a broad range of areas is essential, in particular the areas of general contractual law (including corporate partnership, licensing and other commercial agreements), aspects of tax law, media and intellectual property (brand and trademark protection), company secretarial services, trust property control law and labour law and property law.
•Understanding of environmental legislation (in particular the NEM: Protected Areas Act) would be beneficial but is not essential.
•Commercial agreements used by WWF take a wide variety and form, including funding, hosting, donation, consultancy, campaign income, branded merchandise, license, service, confidentiality, consent to use logo, memorandums of understanding, and other agreements.
•LLB degree and at least 2 years post admission experience
•Valid Driver’s License
•Experience in commercial contract drafting
•Knowledge of the Consumer Protection Act, relevant tax law, data protection law, environmental law
•Advanced level proficiency in MS Office
•Systematic and analytical thinker
•Able to solve problems and build relationships
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Strong writing and presentation skills
•Excellent attention to detail
•Excellent planning and organizational skills
•Able to perform under pressure and use initiative
